Rosses Point Coastal Way Project

Heritage Week 2020 County Winner

The Rosses Point Coastal Way project was submitted to the Heritage Council by video this year (below), was awarded the County Sligo Heritage Award for 2020 and featured in the "Ireland's Heritage" supplement in the Irish Times today.

Thanks to the local community in Rosses Point who participated in our Planning For Real events to develop the project... especially the 5th and 6th Class pupils of Realt na Mara Primary School of 2015 who gave us great advice and brilliant ideas!

Thanks also to all those from the Point, Sligo town and county as well as the visitors who took the time to participate in our face to face survey along the route.

Thanks to Catherine Johnson and the Rosses Point Tidy Towns group of that time, who funded the panel production costs for us and to all those who supplied us with information and photographs.

Thanks also to Michael Carty of Sligo Co. Council who encouraged us and enabled us to have the panels installed along the Promenade, Scenic Walk, the carpark and Bowmore headland.

Sean, Dearbhla and myself are delighted with the award and more so with the enjoyment we get from seeing locals and visitors alike enjoy the panels.
